ASSEMBLIES Each second Tuesday a class will entertain / perform at assembly. Please make an effort to come along and support these students as they discover the world of microphones and public speaking. On Valentine's day Mrs O'Garr's C18 year 7 class created their own slant on Romeo and Juliet - a romance - at our first assembly. This was terrific. The second Assembly was conducted by year 6 students of C17. Ms Brand and her class researched the 'stolen' generation. Thank you Year 6's. Next assembly is Tuesday 13 March, we would love to see you encourage our children in their endeavours.
Welcome back everyone. I hope you are all fresh and ready for another busy year. This year we have nine 'straight' classes - Kindergarten, Pre Primary, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6 and Year 7. If any more students enrol in certain classes, this may have to change to accomodate them. All students and staff have settled in well to their class routines.
Please remember that I have an 'open door' policy. If you have a concern, an enquiry or even a compliment, please let us know.
Mrs Judith Hardwick our ESL teacher has commenced workshops for ESL parents. These have been running now for two weeks and we have had approximately 20 adults attend and up to 10 children attending the creche. To date we have interpreters attend to ensure smooth understanding and ease of communication. Each we have worked in various ways, with Oral Language games, puzzles and hands-on practice activities which you can also do at home. If you require an interpreter please let the office know BEFORE wednesday. The feedback has all been positive. Well done Mrs Hardwick and thank you for your efforts.
HARMONY DAY EXCURSION Again this year we are arranging a whole school outing to Kings Park for Harmony Day. This outing is something special and all students love to attend. The P & C arrange a sausage sizzle for our lunch. Games and other exciting activities are arranged for all to enjoy. Make sure your child has completed and returned an Excursion Medical Form. These can be collected from the office if you require one to update medical and contact changes. The date set aside for this excursion is Friday 23 March 2012.
